In a vast grass field full of flowers. The wind blows through her skin; she felt it pass through her so fast like the time passes her with no hesitation. Leaving no pain, no memories and full of questions.
In a cold day, Katarina, a girl with a soft long hair, beautiful eyes with a very soft voice is known for her kindness and purity, known as the "Everybody's Friend" in their village. Everybody loves her because she got this aura of being so kind and angel hearted. She was walking along the same path she takes when she goes back home. A rocky road outlined by grasses and snow. Of course it's winter and the snow is starting to fall. Katarina sings joyfully, walking and turning around while the sun is setting. Unconsciously, she bumped into a person.
"Ooops, Sorry for that!" Katarina said as she bows her head for apology.
"No, no, It's okay I am fine so please raise your head." the guy said.
Katarina slowly lifts her head and looked at the guy’s face. She saw a light brown-colored, wavy soft hair, soft spoken eyes, smooth skin, light colored tone and an innocent smile".
"Hello~ I came from another village and will stay around here. My name is Hika and you are...?" hika suddenly asked. As she is shocked to what she has seen, she almost stumbled to her words,
"Uh! Oh! I'm Katarina. Nice meeting you" she greeted back with a smile. Hika smiles and says,
"Nice meeting you too. Well then I must leave, my mom still needs me. Bye!" "Oh okay!" Katarina waves her hand. The day ended.
Katarina woke up in the morning, gets dressed and prepares her things. She will be going to the field to gather some ingredients for the meals of the day. She walks the main street of their village greeted by every children and people she passes by. Keito greeted her and joined her to get to the field for the same reasons.
"Hi~ Keito" she greeted. "Hi! Going for some ingredients?" Keito gladly smiled and asked.
"Oh you should know that already right? Of course I am. We’ve known each other since we're kids so you better know my routine" Katarina spoke happily.
"Hahaha! Well yeah we are, so we go?" Keito laughs.
They reached the field that is divided into vegetables and plants and fruits. Katarina went on separate ways with keito and will be meeting him up after they are done. Katarina went first in the field of fruits gathering and putting it in her basket. She hums while gathering and suddenly she saw Hika seriously staring at a single fruit.
She went to hika "Oh Hi Hika" while she waves.
"Oh Hi! you are...... Katarina right?" Hika said happily.
"Yes I am, sorry about yesterday. By the way why are you so serious in staring at the fruit?" Katarina asked curiously.
"Hm.. we don't have this fruit in our village field and I don't know if it is already ripe or not." Hika stares at the fruit. Katarina explained about the fruit and Hika abruptly asked Katarina to teach him more about the field. Katarina accepted it happily. The two of them spent the time laughing and full of learning experience for Hika. Somehow while they are having fun, Keito watches over them from a distance.
They ended getting their needs in the field and Katarina went up to meet with Keito. "Hika come, I will introduce you to my friend Keito." Hika follows with his basket full of fruits and vegetables. Katarina introduces Hika to Keito and they shook their hands for the first time. The three of them walked back home and got their separate ways to their homes. Before the day ends Katarina just realized she had a lot of fun today and felt so happy and blessed.
Weeks had past. Katarina and Hika became so close with each other. Keito seemed to have a hard time looking at how the relationship between the two of them is going. Keito seemed to realize that he really loves Katarina ever since they were still children. That's one of the reasons why he gets jealous. On the other hand, Katarina and Hika are falling in love unconsciously. Katarina went to the point of wanting to confess already to Hika about her feelings but never attempted to do it because of rejection. Katarina didn't notice that Keito is already having a distance between the two of them. All this time she thought it was okay.
The winter feeling is almost at its end. Katarina went to the field full of flowers thinking to create a bouquet of flowers. She already decided to confess and give the flowers to Hika as a token of appreciation and symbol of love to Hika. When she arrived at the field. Hika was sitting along with the grass and flowers. Closed Eyes, breathing slowly and listening to the breeze. Hika was wearing pure white clothes. Katarina went close to him as her heart beats fast.
"This was so unexpected. But I'm gonna do it." she told to herself while walking towards Hika.
Hika heard the footsteps from the ground. He looked back and he saw Katarina. "Katarina! you're here!" Hika shouted. Katarina blushed and answered back
"Uh. Yes! Would you mind if I join you there?” Hikaru said "Of course!".
Katarina sat beside Hika and silently, they listened to the whistling of the breeze. Slowly, Hika laid his head on the lap of Katarina and looked at her while he smiles. Katarina got shocked and let Hika lie down on her lap.
"Uhm.. hey katarina?" Hika suddenly asked. "Uh.. yes? What is it?" Katarina’s heart beats fast.
"I wanted to say something." Hika replied. "What is it?" Katarina asked.
"Thank you for everything. I have been so happy ever since I transferred here. But there's one thing that made me happier. I loved a girl." Hika proudly explained.
"Oh~ you're welcome! I'm glad I made you happy. However if you don't mind, who's the girl?" Katarina replied. "She bumped into me the first time I got here. She taught me a lot of things. She taught me how to live with happiness~." Hika said.
"Hmm.. wow she is great then I want to meet her. " Katarina replied with sadness.
"Katarina...." Hika looked at Katarina's face while lying on her lap. Katarina looked down and watched Hika’s eyes look at her.
"The field full of memories, and the flowers that blooms beautifully, the grass that dances along with the moments we spent together, lastly the breeze that passes through us be the witness. I loved you so much. They are my witness to how much I love you. This I say sincerely." Hika slowly spoke with pure sincerity.
Katarina went silent for a few seconds, until the words of the boy he loved sinks into her mind and heart. She replies. "Let the field, the flowers, the grass and the breeze be also my witness. I Love you too Hika. With all my heart and trust I give to you."
As Katarina smiled, Hika got shocked and stood up.
"Give me your hand." Hika reaches his hand to Katarina.
Katarina accepted and reached Hika’s hand. Hika hugged her tight and start moving slowly as the two of them danced in the middle of the field full of flowers.
Keito who is watching behind the tree got his heart broken into pieces as he sees the happiness and love that the couple confessed. He never thought this would happen right before his eyes. He left.
Katarina went back to her house and saw a letter infront of her house. A letter that says, "I loved you more than he did. I loved you ever since we're kids. I tried to be strong and always catch your back. I tried to prove how special you are to me. But I may be too late to say how much I love you. For I know that there is someone else inside your heart. I may have a space inside but I can't expand it anymore because of the love you've given to him. I love you. I love you through all these years. But I have to let go and say good bye. I love you, good bye". It’s from Keito. Katarina ran towards keito’s house and she saw none. She ran to the main street, to the field but he’s not there either. After all, she knew that this was already a good bye. She cried so much that night. A close friend. A brother she had. Left her. Without notice. Without proper goodbyes. That night she prayed that Keito will be back someday.
3 days passed since Keito left, Katarina and Hika received news that Keito died in an accident on a village far from theirs. Keito died because of his wounds from falling on a high cliff. Katarina can't stop herself from crying while travelled through the snow storm with Hika just to get as soon as possible to the village where Keito's body rests. Both of them we're riding a horse. The horse runs as fast as it could to pass the storm. Suddenly the attack of nature rises, making the path hard to see for the both of them. In a moment, just a very single moment, a huge block of snow slid from the mountain, hitting the horse and the couple. They we're on the edge of the cliff pushed by the storm and block of snow. Everything went black.
Katarina woke up in her bed. Started to get dressed and went to the field. To the field of flowers. She sits and looks at the sky. Slowly trying to feel every breeze that flows through her skin. It feels like I need to be here. It feels like I lost something here. I wonder what it is. I wonder what really happened to me that day. The day I woke up with my body full of bandages. The day when I asked, “Who am I?".
